{"id":107,"date":"2003-03-11T17:27:00","date_gmt":"2003-03-11T21:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.markbaker.ca\/wp\/?p=206"},"modified":"2003-03-11T17:27:00","modified_gmt":"2003-03-11T21:27:00","slug":"checking-out-infopath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.markbaker.ca\/blog\/2003\/03\/checking-out-infopath\/","title":{"rendered":"Checking out Infopath"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just thought I&#8217;d see what all the fuss is about, and check out\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/office\/preview\/infopath\/default.asp\">Infopath<\/a>.\nI just ran through the online\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/office\/preview\/infopath\/demo.asp\">demo<\/a> that&#8217;s there.<\/p>\n\n<p>Very nice, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collaxa.com\/radio\/2003\/03\/11.jsp\">like Edwin<\/a>,\nI&#8217;ve really got to wonder about the wisdom of doing this as part of Office, as it&#8217;s just\nsuch a <em>perfect<\/em> fit for the browser.  Hopefully the Office team is thinking\nthis too.<\/p>\n\n<p>The demo didn&#8217;t show much of the &#8220;Share&#8221; part, except for some out-of-place\nUDDI and WSDL stuff, which should just be chucked.  This is such a perfectly\nRESTful system that there&#8217;s zero value in doing Web services.  Hopefully what\nthe demo didn&#8217;t show, was a means of publishing a form back to a Web server\nfor activiation, constructing a workflow by linking forms together using\nhypermedia, yada yada&#8230; all that good Web stuff.<\/p>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s also a perfect base from which to add RDF support, but I suppose\nwe won&#8217;t see that until long after the Semantic Web is a huge success.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I just thought I&#8217;d see what all the fuss is about, and check out Infopath.
