It&#8217;s also home to a lot\nof <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/People\/Berners-Lee\/\">Tim<\/a> and\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/People\/Connolly\/\">Dan<\/a>&#8216;s discussions\nwhich are redirected from other mailing lists.  Well worth following.<\/p>\n\n<p>While checking it out yesterday, I found\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/www-archive\/2003Jul\/0007.html\">this gem<\/a>\nfrom <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apache.org\/~fielding\/\">Roy Fielding<\/a> on ambiguity in\nidentification and the need to confront &#8220;secondary semantics&#8221; that result from that\nambiguity.<\/p>\n\n<p>In 5 or 10 years, people are going to look back on these archives (and\nperhaps the RESTful ones on\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/www-ws-arch\/\">www-ws-arch<\/a> 8-),\nand realize that these were actually some of the most advanced and important\ndu jour topics in large scale distributed systems research and practice &#8230; a far cry\nfrom the esoterica that it must seem to Web services proponents.  I&#8217;m\nhumbled when I realize how fortunate I am to have understood this early enough (only\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.xent.com\/FoRK-archive\/may98\/0120.html\">five years late<\/a>,\nrelative to 1993 when I first learned of the Web! 8-) to be able to make a\ncontribution to the World Wide Web project, if only through education and\nevangelizing (hey, somebody has to do it!).
