Now, with the\npublication of -04 of the\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ietf.org\/internet-drafts\/draft-swartz-rdfcore-rdfxml-mediatype-04.txt\">RDF\/XML media type registration draft<\/a>,\nthere&#8217;s another one.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/www-rdf-comments\/2004JanMar\/0075.html\">Comment submitted<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The best summation of the issue, as I\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/www-rdf-comments\/2004JanMar\/0079.html\">wrote<\/a>\nin the ensuing\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/www-rdf-comments\/2004JanMar\/thread.html#75\">thread<\/a> is probably;<\/p>\n\n<blockquote>\nIf somebody on the Web can&#8217;t distinguish between an RDF message which\nsays &#8220;Mark hates bananas&#8221; versus one that says &#8220;Mark hates bananas (but\nnot really)&#8221; (aka unasserted), then there is a failure to communicate.\nThe &#8220;but not really&#8221; part must be part of the message.  It can either be\ndone through mechanisms in the RDF specs themselves (e.g.\nparseType=&#8221;literal&#8221;), or it can be done in an encapsulating spec or\nregistry, such as the media type registration.\n<\/blockquote>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I&#8217;ve talked about my nose for self-description problems before in the context of RDF and media types.
