AFAIK, you two were the first self-described Web\nservices proponents to be able to put the CORBA-like legacy <em>completely<\/em> behind\nyou and go for a <em>pure<\/em> document exchange model; none of this\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.markbaker.ca\/2002\/09\/Blog\/2004\/03\/09#2004-03-operation\">hybrid document\/RPC<\/a> crappola.<\/p>\n\n<p>He adds;<\/p>\n\n<blockquote>\nNow if only I could convince him to decouple the Web from Web Services. There&#8217;s a whole Internet to embrace outside of HTTP :-P\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Heh, very true, there is a lot more to the Internet and Web than just HTTP.\n<em>But<\/em>, not so much more that most (not all) of it can&#8217;t reasonably be used\nvia an HTTP proxy, or in an HTTP-like manner.  Just think about how many other\nsystems have been Web-ified; email addresses use mailto:, FTP, though not used\nnearly as much since the Web came along, is hardly ever used without an ftp: URI.<\/p>\n\n<p>(Jim and I are having an exchange off-line which suggests he was\nthinking in this direction; kudos!)<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Jim Webber&#8217;s flattered that I included he and Savas in my list of highlights.
