Here goes.]<\/p>\n\n<p>Had a blast at the\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eecg.toronto.edu\/middleware2004\/\">Middleware 2004<\/a>\nProgram Committee meeting in Toronto this weekend.  I got to catch up with\nmy old dist-obj buddy <a href=\"http:\/\/dl.cs.oswego.edu\">Doug Lea<\/a>, as well\nas meet some people whose work I have at least a passing familiarity with such as\n<a href=\"http:\/\/choices.cs.uiuc.edu\/rhc\/\">Roy Campbell<\/a>,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.research.ibm.com\/people\/s\/stai\/\">Stefan Tai<\/a>, and\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.wustl.edu\/~cdgill\/\">Chris Gill<\/a>.  Unfortunately\nWerner\n<a href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.cs.cornell.edu\/AllThingsDistributed\/archives\/000460.html\">couldn&#8217;t make it en corpo<\/a> &#8211; it would have been good to talk\nface-to-face with him about REST, SOA, distributed objects, etc.., &#8211; but\nhe was able to dial-in which was appreciated.<\/p>\n\n<p>I hadn&#8217;t heard about this conference before being invited to be on the PC,\nso wasn&#8217;t exactly sure what to expect in terms of paper and organizational\nquality (though after seeing\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eecg.toronto.edu\/middleware2004\/organization.htm\">who was involved<\/a>,\nI was less concerned 8-), but after this weekend, I&#8217;m confident it will be an\nexceptional conference.
