{"id":467,"date":"2004-09-22T23:26:00","date_gmt":"2004-09-23T03:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.markbaker.ca\/wp\/2004\/09\/22\/the-now-economy\/"},"modified":"2004-09-22T23:26:00","modified_gmt":"2004-09-23T03:26:00","slug":"the-now-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.markbaker.ca\/blog\/2004\/09\/the-now-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"The Now Economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was flabbergasted to discover that I was the only subscriber to\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.commerce.net\/\">The Now Economy<\/a> on\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloglines.com\">Bloglines<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested in a weblog that can discuss\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.commerce.net\/archives\/2004\/09\/feedmesh_decent.html\">mesh networks<\/a> in one post, and\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.commerce.net\/archives\/2004\/09\/plott_on_decent.html\">pasture management<\/a> soon thereafter,\nand just generally cover the gambit of what decentralization and instant\n(modulo latency, of course 8-) gratification might mean to business in\nthe coming years and decades, you should be subscribed.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ifindkarma.com\/\">Adam<\/a> and\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ics.uci.edu\/~rohit\">Rohit<\/a>\nare the brains behind\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.knownow.com\">KnowNow<\/a> and\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mod-pubsub.org\">mod-pubsub<\/a>,\nand are both now at\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.commerce.net\">CommerceNet<\/a> Labs.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>Update<\/em>; it seems Bloglines has a bad URI comparison\nalgorithm, since I heard from somebody else that they see 9\nsubscribers, yet I still only see 3.  This jives with two other\nthings I&#8217;ve observed about the service; that it recommends feeds I&#8217;m\nalready subscribed to, and that it doesn&#8217;t permit publication of URIs\nending with &#8220;\/&#8221; (which could very well explain all these problems, I\nthink).
