In both cases, the premise is that by being\nindependent of data models (for XML) and application interfaces (for SOAP),\nbroad applicability is achieved.<\/p>\n\n<p>Now contrast this with the Web\/Semantic-Web position, that\nby constructing a generic\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/RDF\/\">data model<\/a>\nand generic\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ietf.org\/rfc\/rfc2616.txt\">application interface<\/a>,\nbroad applicability is achieved.<\/p>\n\n<p>Two interesting hypotheses, for sure.
