So\nyou&#8217;re stuck with document\/literal where practice isn&#8217;t great.\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>And remember, this is just\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/2000\/NOTE-SOAP-20000508\/\"><em>SOAP 1.1<\/em><\/a>\na spec that is <em>five<\/em> years old, and which (apparently) requires\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ws-i.org\/Profiles\/BasicProfile-1.0-2004-04-16.html\">clarification<\/a>\nupon\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ws-i.org\/Profiles\/BasicProfile-1.1-2004-08-24.html\">clarification<\/a>&#8230;\nbut still can&#8217;t seem to get it right.<\/p>\n\n<p>Ouch.  Even if you like the (presumed) architecture of Web services,\nthis would seem reason enough to give pause and to motivate consideration\nof a Web based solution, no?<\/p>\n\n<p><em>Update<\/em>; based on some offline feedback, I should clarify that\nthe problem Nelson talks about with the doc\/lit encoding isn&#8217;t specific to\nWeb services and could also be encountered in a Web based solution.
