It&#8217;s implemented by simply\nincluding a &#8220;trackback:ping&#8221; qualified URI in the item.  For the item\nthat corresponded to his\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.intertwingly.net\/blog\/1105.html\">announcement<\/a> of\nsupport, the URI is;<\/p>\n\n<blockquote>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.intertwingly.net\/blog\/1105.tb\">http:\/\/www.intertwingly.net\/blog\/1105.tb<\/a>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p>So being the Web-head that I am, I invoked GET on it.  Here&#8217;s what I saw;<\/p>\n\n<pre>\n&lt;?xml version=\"1.0\" ? &gt;\n&lt;response&gt;\n&lt;error&gt;1&lt;\/error&gt;\n&lt;message&lt;excerpt not found&lt;\/message&gt;\n\/&lt;response&gt;\n<\/pre>\n\n<p>I note that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blogstream.com\/pauls\/\">Paul<\/a>,\nBen, and Mena had written about\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.prescod.net\/xml\/TrackBack.html#discovery\">what could be returned<\/a>,\nwhich is <em>bang on<\/em> from my POV, though you could also include the number\nof received pings in there, which could be useful, and make a nice link from the\nhuman-readable blog.<\/p>\n\n<p>Just thinking out loud; I&#8217;m not trying to put more work on Sam&#8217;s plate 8-).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sam Ruby implements the RSS Trackback module in his RSS 2.0 feed.
