This Saturday\nmorning the family and I are departing for\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.narita-airport.jp\/en\/\">Narita (Tokyo) airport<\/a>\nin Japan.  We arrive late in the afternoon, so booked a night in\nNarita, figuring we&#8217;ll be spent by then (did I mention the four year old?).\nThe next AM we hop on a\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.japan-guide.com\/e\/e2018.html\">Shinkansen<\/a>\nbound for Kyoto via Tokyo Ueno station.  While we&#8217;re there, we&#8217;re\nhoping to have time to hit some of the sights in Kyoto of course,\nbut also\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pref.nara.jp\/english\/\">Nara<\/a>\nand\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.expo2005.or.jp\/\">Expo 2005<\/a>\nin Aichi (Nagoya).  If we have time, we might also head down\nto Osaka to check out the famous\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kaiyukan.com\/eng\/\">Kaiyukan Acquarium<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Then it&#8217;s back to Tokyo (Chiba) the following weekend for\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www2005.org\">WWW2005<\/a>\nwhere I&#8217;ve got a lot on the go, including a panel called\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www2005.org\/panels\/#PA09\">&#8220;Web services considered harmful?&#8221;<\/a>\non Friday, and\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www2005.org\/dday\/\">Developer&#8217;s Day<\/a>\non Saturday which I&#8217;m co-chairing.  I&#8217;m also moderating a panel\nat DevDay about Microformats and the Semantic Web.<\/p>\n\n<p>After that, it&#8217;s a three day meeting of the\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2004\/CDF\/\">Compound Document Formats WG<\/a>\nat\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.justsystem.com\">Justsystem<\/a>&#8216;s\noffices in Kita-Aoyama, then home for a day, and onward to\nAmsterdam for\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.xtech-conference.org\/\">XTech<\/a>\nwhere, amoungst other things, I&#8217;ll be\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.xtech-conference.org\/2005\/friday.asp#7\">updating<\/a>\nattendees on the progress of the CDF WG.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m getting pretty jazzed about the coming month.
